Bates Artists Paint the Town Proud!

Creativity, courage, and powerful storytelling were on full display as three of Bates Academy’s amazingly talented 6th grade artists — Grace Smith, Christina Ross, and Mila Williamson — had their artwork selected for the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s 42nd Annual Art Auction for Scholarships on April 19, 2026!

Their artwork didn’t just hang on the walls — it spoke loudly with messages of diversity, social justice, unity, and the importance of every voice being heard. Through bold colors, thoughtful details, and meaningful expression, these young artists reminded everyone that art has the power to inspire change and celebrate humanity.

To make this moment even more special, their beautiful pieces were purchased by Bates Academy teachers who were deeply moved by their creativity and vision — a true honor for our young artists! As a celebration of their hard work and talent, each student was also awarded a $50 Visa Gift Card.
